ഏതു ദുരന്തവാർത്തയും സ്വാനുഭവത്തിൽ വരുന്നതുവരെ മനുഷ്യർക്ക് ആഴത്തിൽ മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ കഴിയണമെന്നില്ല. ഉരുൾപ്പൊട്ടലും മലയിടിച്ചിലും വെള്ളപ്പൊക്കവുമൊക്കെ മലയാളികൾക്ക് അപരിചിതമായ സംഭവങ്ങളല്ല. എന്നാൽ വാർത്തകളിൽ മാത്രം വായിച്ചും കേട്ടും അറിഞ്ഞവർ അതിന്റെ ദൈന്യത എത്രത്തോളം മനസ്സിലാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ടാവുമെന്നത് സംശയമാണ്. അവിടെയാണ്, ‘മലയൻകുഞ്ഞി’ന്റെ പ്രസക്തി. ചിത്രം കണ്ടിറങ്ങുന്ന ഒരാൾക്ക് ഇനിയൊരു പ്രകൃതിദുരന്തത്തിന്റെ വാർത്ത കണ്ടാൽ അതിനെ വെറുമൊരു വാർത്തയായി തള്ളികളയാനാവില്ല. അത്രത്തോളം കാഴ്ചക്കാർക്ക് അനുഭവവേദ്യമാവുന്ന രീതിയിലാണ് നവാഗത സംവിധായകനായ സജിമോൻ തന്റെ ആദ്യചിത്രമായ ‘മലയൻകുഞ്ഞ്’ ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്.
ഒരു മലയോരഗ്രാമത്തിൽ ഇലക്ട്രോണിക്സ് ജോലികളുമായി ജീവിക്കുന്ന ചെറുപ്പക്കാരനാണ് നാട്ടുകാരും വീട്ടുകാരും അനിക്കുട്ടൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്ന അനിൽകുമാർ. ചില നിർബന്ധ ബുദ്ധികളും പിടിവാശികളും ‘രോഗാതുരമായ കാഴ്ചപ്പാടുകളു’മൊക്കെയുള്ള ചെറുപ്പക്കാരനാണ് അയാൾ. ജീവിതാനുഭവങ്ങൾ സമ്മാനിച്ച കയ്പ്പേറിയ ചില ഓർമകളും അയാളെ വിടാതെ പിന്തുടരുന്നുണ്ട്. അയാളുടെ നിർബന്ധ ബുദ്ധികൾക്ക് അനുസരിച്ച് കാര്യങ്ങൾ മുന്നോട്ടു പോകവെ, തീർത്തും അപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായി ഒരു ദുരന്തം ആ നാടിനെ മൂടുന്നു. പ്രകൃതിദുരന്തത്തിന്റെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിലുള്ള ഒരു സർവൈവൽ ത്രില്ലറാണ് മലയൻകുഞ്ഞ്.
അനിക്കുട്ടൻ എന്ന കഥാപാത്രത്തിന്റെ ജീവിതവും അയാളുടെ ജീവിതപരിസരങ്ങളുമൊക്കെ കൃത്യമായി രേഖപ്പെടുത്തികൊണ്ടാണ് ആദ്യപകുതിയുടെ സഞ്ചാരം. രണ്ടാം പകുതിയിലേക്ക് എത്തുമ്പോൾ ശ്വാസമടക്കിപ്പിടിച്ചുമാത്രമേ പ്രേക്ഷകനു ചിത്രം കണ്ടു പൂർത്തിയാക്കാനാവൂ. തൊണ്ടയിൽ ഒരു കരച്ചിൽ കുടുങ്ങിയതുപോലെ നമ്മളെ അസ്വസ്ഥരാക്കും ദൃശ്യങ്ങൾ. പ്രേക്ഷകനെ അടിമുടി സ്ക്രീനിൽ തളച്ചിടുന്ന ദൃശ്യങ്ങളാണ് ഛായാഗ്രാഹകൻ മഹേഷ് നാരായണൻ ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. അനിക്കുട്ടനൊപ്പം ഒന്നെണ്ണീറ്റു നിൽക്കാൻ, ഒന്നു ആഞ്ഞു ശ്വസിക്കാൻ പ്രേക്ഷകരും ആഗ്രഹിച്ചുപോവും. ക്ലോസ്ട്രോഫോബിയയുള്ള ആളുകൾക്ക് ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടില്ലാതെ ചിത്രം കണ്ടു തീർക്കുക പ്രയാസമായിരിക്കും. തികഞ്ഞ പെർഫെക്ഷനോടെ ഒരുക്കിയ ഇതുപോലൊരു റിയലിസ്റ്റിക് സർവൈവൽ ത്രില്ലർ മലയാളത്തിൽ വേറെയുണ്ടോ എന്ന് സംശയമാണ്.
മഹേഷ് നാരായണനാണ് മലയൻകുഞ്ഞിന്റെ തിരക്കഥയൊരുക്കിയത്. ജാതി, മത ചിന്തകൾക്ക് അപ്പുറം മാനവികതയെ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്ന ചിത്രം കൂടിയാണ് ‘മലയൻകുഞ്ഞ്’, കഥാന്ത്യത്തിൽ വന്നുപോവുന്ന ആ നഴ്സിന്റെ സംഭാഷണം വലിയൊരു ‘സ്റ്റേറ്റ്മെന്റാണ്’. വളരെ ലൗഡായി പറയാതെയും ചിലതൊക്കെ കാഴ്ചക്കാരിലേക്ക് കൈമാറാനുവെന്ന് മഹേഷ് നാരായണൻ തന്റെ തിരക്കഥയിലൂടെ കാണിച്ചു തരുന്നു. ചിത്രം കണ്ടിറങ്ങുമ്പോൾ, കവളപ്പാറ ഉരുൾപൊട്ടൽ മുതൽ അങ്ങോട്ട് കേരളക്കര കേട്ടുമറന്ന നിരവധി പ്രകൃതിദുരന്തങ്ങളും അവിടെ പൊലിഞ്ഞ നിസ്സഹായരായ മനുഷ്യരുടെ മുഖങ്ങളും ഒരോർമ്മപ്പെടുത്തലായി മുന്നിൽ തെളിയും.
താനൊരു അസാധ്യനടനാണെന്ന് ഫഹദ് ഫാസിൽ ഒരിക്കൽ കൂടി സാക്ഷ്യപ്പെടുത്തുകയാണ് മലയൻകുഞ്ഞിലൂടെ. ഏത് നാട്ടിൽ കൊണ്ടിട്ടാലും അനായേസേന അന്നാട്ടുകാരനായി മാറി വിസ്മയിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ‘ഫഫ’ മാജിക് ഇവിടെയും കാണാം. അതിനപ്പുറം, അപാരമായ കയ്യടക്കത്തോടെ അഭിനയത്തിന്റെ സൂക്ഷ്മാംശങ്ങൾ വരെ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുന്നൊരു നടനെ കൂടി മലയൻകുഞ്ഞിൽ അടുത്തു കാണാം. എത്രയോ സമയം ഫഹദ് മാത്രമാണ് സ്ക്രീനിൽ നിറയുന്നത്, പക്ഷേ ഒരു നിമിഷം പോലും ഫഹദിലെ നടൻ പ്രേക്ഷകരെ ബോറടിപ്പിക്കുകയോ കാഴ്ചക്കാരുടെ യുക്തിയെ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല.
ഇന്ദ്രൻസ്, ജാഫർ ഇടുക്കി, രജിഷ വിജയൻ, ദീപക് പറമ്പോൽ, അർജുൻ അശോകൻ, ഇർഷാദ് എന്നിവരാണ് ചിത്രത്തിലെ മറ്റു പ്രധാന അഭിനേതാക്കൾ. ഫഹദിന്റെ അമ്മയായി എത്തിയ നടിയും ശ്രദ്ധേയമായ അഭിനയമാണ് കാഴ്ച വച്ചത്.
എആർ റഹ്മാൻ എന്ന പേരിലുള്ള സിനിമാപ്രേക്ഷകരുടെ വിശ്വാസത്തിന് അയാളുടെ കരിയറോളം പഴക്കമുണ്ട്, ആ വിശ്വാസത്തെ ഒന്നൂകൂടി തെളിമയോടെ ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കുകയാണ് മലയൻകുഞ്ഞിന്റെ ബിജിഎമ്മും സംഗീതവും. ക്യാമറയും സംഗീതവും മാത്രമല്ല, മറ്റു സാങ്കേതിക വശങ്ങളിലും ചിത്രം മികവു പുലർത്തുന്നുണ്ട്. വളരെ റിയലിസ്റ്റിക്കായി ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്ന ആർട്ടും പ്രത്യേക പരാമർശം അർഹിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ എഡിറ്റിംഗ് നിർവ്വഹിച്ചതും മഹേഷ് തന്നെ. സംവിധായകൻ ഫാസിലാണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ നിർമാതാവ്. നൂറുശതമാനവും തിയേറ്റർ എക്സ്പീരിയൻസ് ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്ന ചിത്രമാണ് ‘മലയൻകുഞ്ഞ്’.
സിനിമ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടും സീറ്റുകളിൽ നിന്ന് എണീക്കാനാവാതെ, കണ്ട കാഴ്ചകളിൽ നിന്ന് മുക്തരാവാതെ, നനവാർന്ന കണ്ണുകളുമായി ഇരുന്ന ആദ്യഷോയിലെ പ്രേക്ഷകർ തന്നെയാണ് ഈ ചിത്രത്തിന് ലഭിക്കാൻ പോവുന്ന ഏറ്റവും വലിയ പ്രമോഷൻ. സിനിമയെ പ്രണയിക്കുന്ന ഒരാൾക്കും ഈ ചിത്രം മറ്റൊരാൾക്കായി നിർദ്ദേശിക്കാതിരിക്കാനാവില്ല. വരും ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ കൂടുതൽ ആഴത്തിൽ ചർച്ച ചെയ്യപ്പെടാനുള്ളതൊക്കെ ചിത്രത്തിൽ ഫഹദും മഹേഷ് നാരായണനും സജിമോനും എ ആർ റഹ്മാനും ചേർന്ന് ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
Malayankunju Movie Review
Humans may not be able to deeply understand any tragic news until they experience it themselves. Landslides, landslides and floods are not unfamiliar events to the Malayalis. But it is doubtful that those who only read and heard about it in the news would have understood its pitifulness. That is where the relevance of ‘Malayankunji’ is. If someone watching the film sees the news of another natural disaster, it cannot be dismissed as just news. Debutant director Sajimon has made his debut film ‘Malayankunju’ in such a way that the viewers can experience it.
Anilkumar, who is called Anikutan by the locals and his family, is a young man living in a hilly village doing electronics work. He is a young man with some forced wits, stubbornness and ‘morbid views’. Some bitter memories of life experiences also follow him without leaving. As things proceed according to his compulsive instincts, an unexpected tragedy engulfs the land. Malayankunju is a survival thriller set in the backdrop of a natural disaster.
The journey of the first half is by accurately recording the life of the character Anikuttan and his living environment. When it reaches the second half, the audience can watch the film only with bated breath. The scenes will make us feel uneasy as if a cry is stuck in our throat. Cinematographer Mahesh Narayanan has created scenes that make the audience fall on the screen. The audience will also want to stand with Anikutan and take a deep breath. People with claustrophobia may find it difficult to finish watching the film without difficulty. It is doubtful if there is another realistic survival thriller in Malayalam like this, made with complete perfection.
Malayankunj is written by Mahesh Narayanan. ‘Malayankunju’ is also a film that celebrates humanity beyond caste and religious thoughts, and the conversation of the nurse at the end of the story is a big ‘statement’. Mahesh Narayanan shows through his screenplay that he can convey something to the viewers without saying it too loudly. When watching the film, many natural disasters that have been forgotten in Kerala since Kavalapara landslide and the faces of the helpless people who died there will be shown as a reminder.
Fahadh Fazil is proving once again that he is an impossible actor through Malayankunj. No matter which country you are taken to, you can find the magic of ‘Fafa’ here, which makes you feel like a local. Apart from that, Malayan Kunj also sees an actor who pays attention to the smallest details of his acting with immense hands. Most of the time only Fahad fills the screen, but not even for a moment does the actor in Fahad bore the audience or question the logic of the viewers.
Indrans, Jaffer Idukki, Rajisha Vijayan, Deepak Parambol, Arjun Ashokan and Irshad are the other main actors of the film. The actress who appeared as Fahad’s mother also gave a remarkable performance.
Filmgoers’ faith in the name AR Rahman is as old as his career, and Malayankunj’s BGM and music burnish that faith even more vividly. Not only the camera and music, the film excels in other technical aspects as well. The very realistic art also deserves a special mention. Mahesh himself has done the editing of the film. The film is produced by director Faasil. ‘Malayankunju’ is a film that demands a hundred percent theater experience.
The biggest promotion this film is going to get is the audience in the first show, who could not get out of their seats after the movie, and sat with wet eyes. Any movie lover can’t help but recommend this movie to someone else. Fahadh, Mahesh Narayanan, Sajimon and AR Rahman have prepared everything that will be discussed more deeply in the coming days.
